News from the good ship Wench!

Ahoy there, everything is going swimmingly with the Portsmouth Roller Wenches! We now have 10 Wenches who have passed their minimum skills, so watch out for us scrimmaging soon!!

Wenches The Duchess of Crutches & R.I.P McMurphy are competing in a bout in Birmingham this Saturday (2nd), both skating on Team Fast!! It is going to be streamed on http://rduk.tv/ so make sure you tune in on Saturday!!!

We had our 1st birthday celebrations this weekend, as the first ever Wenches practice was on June 20th 2010! So Wench partying on Saturday led to a few hangovers on Sunday but we soon sweated them out with an ace practice session, with an hour of rules delivered to us by the fabulous Scoot’er of Brighton Rockers, then some scrimmaging with NSO & Zebra crews assembled by Scoot’er and Joe from the Rockers. Massive thanks to them for coming to help out their South Coast Derby sisters (& brothers!)!!!

Happy Birthday Portsmouth Roller Wenches! xxx

Guys, roller derby may be a predominantly female sport, but we need you as refs! and Girls, if you don’t fancy the full on contact of derby but still wanna get on skates and get involved, this is the perfect opportunity for you!! Refs can wear quad skates or blades and participate in all of our practices.
